Christian Smirnow,
Germany
My name is Christian Smirnow, I am a 4th year student in the BA Textile / Surface Design at the Academy of Arts Berlin Weißensee. As a designer I have developed a specialization in weaving and silk-screen printing in the context of fashion textiles. In my design-process, I analyze the technical possibilities of a certain technology or technique and try to explore it with an experimental, conceptual approach to broaden the range of products which are already available on the market. Researching into fields like ecology and cultural history enables my designs to critically investigate questions of collective interest such as "Is fashion defining style and identity?" or "How many garments does one person need?". In photo-series connected to these topics, I am mostly using myself as the "body". Consequently, photography and graphic design are the most important tools to achieve a clear communication of my research-designs. This research-based process combined with the will to share my knowledge and experience with others in the network is the foundation of a social sustainability of contemporary design.

roozbeh ghanadi,
UK
I am interested in a wide range of subjects within textiles and surface design with a particular affinity for print and a keen interest in fashion fabric design. My final major project was based on surrealism, taking inspiration from artists such as Salvador Dali and Max Ernst. My intention was to produce a highly innovative collection that is also commercial with excellent hand screen printed exploration of techniques and making full use of modern technologies in some cases combining the two. I am a very creative and passionate person, I have a love for drawing and it is always a starting point to any project I undertake. I feel that recording information through drawing is very important and is something I do all the time especially when visiting new and exciting places. I take inspiration from historical and contemporary artists; my favourite artists are Robert Rauschenberg, Gary Hume and Mark Demsteader. Whilst undertaking design projects, I always ensure that I research current trends and that I am aware of what is already on the market. My favourite fashion designers are Mary Katrantzou, Antoni & Alison and Matthew Williamson. I have previously sold work at Indigo trade show in Paris and I have taken part in live projects with Trend Bible and Hallmark, with trend bible publishing some of my work in there trend forecasting magazine. I have also completed a work placement with London based design studio Keelergordon.

Ffion Griffith,
Wales, UK
I have recently graduated from Chelsea College of Art in London. During my 3 years of studying Textile Design, I specialised in weave for both the fashion and interior markets. I am fond of dyeing my own yarns and searching for unusual weft and warp yarns to use. Colour and pattern are highly important to me and I spend a considerable amount of time researching these two elements. For my final collection I decided to focus upon creating fabrics and products for the luxury interior market using 100% merino lambswool. My weaving patterns were based on fusing traditional Welsh techniques with contemporary colour and urban patterns. I believe a lot of inspiration can be gained from researching traditional techniques and re-interpreting them for the modern market.

Florence Colson Colson,
England
Florence Angelica Colson has recently graduated from Leeds College of Art with a First class BA (Hons) in Printed Textiles and Surface Pattern Design. Her personal practice stems from a love of drawing and painting with gouache, work focused on producing intricate imagery in a delicate, detailed manner. Florence then translates drawings into designs through digital manipulation, ensuring her work preserves the quality and intricacy that inspired initial drawings, as she takes pride in retaining a hand-done aesthetic. Florence aspires to execute bold, intriguing designs, through bright colour application and ornamental detail, highlighting a harmony between hand done processes and digital print. Florence’s latest collection ‘Ornamental Agglomeration’ – features a range of designs intended for a fashion market, meticulously built from hand drawn imagery and intricate gouache paintings. The collection, printed onto luxurious silks, selected by Florence celebrates the intricacy of Victorian Ornament, an aesthetic that is seen as classically beautiful. The basis of Florence’s work is created by hand, as she applies ornate decoration to a compilation of natural forms, objects and motifs, which are then translated into designs via digital manipulation. The balance of both hand generated and digital techniques makes Florence’s design process versatile and commercially viable, yet designs still remain true to the original illustrations. Florence has already experienced recognition via selling designs at the international trade fair Indigo and had great experiences of New Designers 2013, Part 1 and the Texprint London event! Florence will be exhibiting and trading with Texprint at Indigo/ Premier Vision in Paris 17-19th September, 2013. Currently gathering imagery and designing Florence is working towards exhibiting and trading at Indigo, Paris, in September, whilst also freelance designing.

Ingrid Eriksen,
Norge
My name is Ingrid Skåland Eriksen, im 31 years old and I study Fine art at Bergen Academy of Art and Design. Weaving is my main interest, and I would love to learn more about how the industry work, experimenting with different techniques, patterns and expressions. Earlier I used to weave textiles in damask and silkprint the warp, inspired by old traditional patterns and trying to modernize them and make them my own. Late 2010 I resived a scholarship giving me the time and money to study Indian Ikat technique, so I went to Vest-India for two months and saw fantastic samples of single and double Ikat textiles. Now that I study art I want to experiment and learn as much as possible. I want to work three-dimensional, and make long lengths

Elisabet Frick,
Sweden
My name is Elisabet Frick and I have just finished my bachelor degree in textile design at the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts – School of Design. In my bachelor project I worked with a collection of four conceptual rugs, where my intention was to create a textile showpiece for a spatial context. Prior to my bachelor studies at the School of Design I studied a two year foundation program in design, art and architecture. Within the field of textile I am fascinated and interested in how material, color and shape come together in textile constructions. My methods of visualizing my ideas are in weaving and other textile construction techniques. The focus in my work and studies is the architectural and atmospheric aspects of textiles.
